Christmas markets and nearby campsites

As Christmas gradually creeps towards us, some of England's nicest cities are alive with the twinkling lights of a Christmas market.

Think wrapped up warm, the smell of roasting chestnuts and the warmth of mulled wine. Nothing gets you in the festive mood like perusing some great little stalls selling unique gifts and confectionery while the sound of carols floats across the air.

Below are a selection of the markets available and our suggestion for a campsite nearby for a nice litttle festive break.

Lincoln Christmas market
6-9 December 2012
Enjoy cultural entertainment and over 250 stalls nestled in the medieval square and surrounding area.

Site suggestion - Hartsholme Country Park Campsite
Site opens specially for the market. Regular bus service to the city centre, 200m from site.

York Christmas market
29 November - 23 December
A range of markets specialising in gifts, crafts and local produce, with some traders in traditional costume.

Site suggestion - Cherry Tree Cottage CS
Open all year. C&CC members only. Buses to York nearby.

Leeds Christmas market
9 November - 16 December
Covering the whole of Millennium Square, Chritkindelmarkt is one of the largest traditional German markets that visit England.

Site suggestion - Glenfield Caravan Park
Open all year.

Liverpool Christmas market
22 November - 21 December
More than 50 of the finest craft and food stalls from across five continents. Offering treats from as far as China and South America.

Site suggestion - Southport Caravan Club Site
Open until early January. Caravan Club members only.

London's Hyde Park Winter Wonderland
23 November - 6 January
As you would expect from England's capital, this wonderland features a Christmas market, ice rink, circus, rides, and even a magical ice kingdom.

Site suggestion - Abbey Wood Caravan Club Site
Open all year. 30 minute train ride into central London.

Bath Christmas market
22 November - 9 December
The quaint streets and square between stunning Bath Abbey and the famous Roman Baths are transformed into a shopper's haven with traditional wooden chalets full of gifts and treats.

Site suggestion - Newton Mill Holiday Park
Premier Park. Open all year. Walk along the canal path from the site into the city centre.
