CCC member to carry Olympic flame

Camping and Caravanning Club member Russell Winfield has been selected by The London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) as a 2012 Torchbearer.
Russell, who also applied to be a Games volunteer, will carry the Flame through Boston, Lincolnshire on Wednesday, June 27.He said: “It’s just marvellous! It’s such an honour to be a part of the Games – even if it is only a tiny part. It really is going to be a moment to remember and it’s definitely something I look forward to telling my grandchildren about someday.”
The iconic Flame will set off from Land’s End on May 19 and will visit a number of the country’s most popular landmarks before arriving at the Olympic Stadium on July 27.
