Caravan makers report HUGE sales at the Autumn NEC caravan show

It seems like you’re all been digging deep recently as sales of tourers and motorhomes rocketed at the NCC’s annual gathering.

Manufacturers are reporting hugely increased sales, perhaps reflecting the improving economic situation in the UK and the growing confidence that the public are feeling.

Swift

Swift has reported show sales of over £40 million in 2013 (including park homes), with a 50% increase in sales of Sterling caravans and a 15% increase in Sprite sales. Commercial Director, Nick Page, was heard to comment: “We are delighted that the new Sterling ranges and our new SMART intelligent construction has been so well received. The beers are on me!” Well, probably not the last bit.

Lunar

Lunar secured sales of £7.38 million at the NEC event. The Preston-based company’s lightweight ‘Core’ build technology attracted new buyers to its Quasar, Clubman/Delta and Lexon ranges – the new Quasar range was most popular with the 462 two-berth and 544 four-berth selling particularly well.

Lunar chairman and CEO Brain Mellor says: “We were proud to display our 2014 range at the Show and delighted that so many quality visitors came to view and to buy. These sales give us a great start to the 2014 season and are encouraging for the leisure vehicle industry as a whole.”

Coachman

Coachman sold over 350 units with a value of £8.9 million. Jim Hibbs, managing director of Coachman Caravans, said: "We always enjoy great sales at the Motorhome and Caravan Show but this year exceeded our expectations with a record 356 units retailed.

Eterniti

Eterniti’s commercial director, Neil Boulton was also very bullish about the event: “The show was very good for us,” he said. “We had a fantastic volume of sales amounting to just over 1.5 million.

“These were split across all models with the Genesis FB6 and Genesis IB4 coming out as the top two.”

The increased sales do seem to suggest that the British caravanner is eager for innovation and advancement in caravan manufacturing. Next up on the calendar is the Manchester Caravan & Motorhome Show 2014 – click below for more info.
