British caravans get Alde 5-year corrosion protection

All British caravan manufacturers are now using a fluid in Alde heating systems that provides five-year corrosion protection and protects down to temperatures of -35 degrees C.

Until the start of the 2020 model year, the fluid put into Alde systems at manufacture stage was designed to have a corrosion protection lifespan of two years.

The product now used is called G13. This product has been available for some time in caravan accessory shops, as Alde Premium G13 Antifreeze.

G13 is magenta in colour; the antifreeze formerly used is blue.

The result of this change is that owners of caravans with the Alde heating system will no longer have to have the antifreeze changed after two years.

Alde’s Executive Manager, Neil Marsden, says:

“With a 20% glycerol base, these products are more eco-friendly to produce than the blue antifreeze used by the manufacturers in the past. Add to that the five-year life span vs two-year life span of the old blue antifreeze, and you have a massive saving for the environment and end users' wallets.”
