Bailey 'product recall' on Unicorn caravans

Update and exclusive video on making sure your caravan wheels are safe

Bristol based caravan manufacturer Bailey of Bristol has issued an update following a spate of incidents involving wheels coming off caravans while on the road.

The statement reads as follows:
"Using data collected on the incidents to date we can confirm that no units manufactured before w/c 22/11/10 (Build 149) have been affected by this issue and neither have any Unicorn Barcelona or Seville models. As a result we no longer consider these particular caravans to be at risk - reducing the potential number of units affected from 3,356 to 1,202.

The examination of the units which have experienced this failure remains on-going and whilst we have been able to eliminate a number of factors the initial inspections have not as yet revealed the root cause of the problem."

The original warning was issued for safety reasons though we have been assured that the number of caravans is in single figures.

Correct torque for Bailey Unicorn single-axle caravan wheels is 110Nm or 81ft lb
