Snugpak SJ9 Jacket Review: Spend longer outside!

ebce98dc-497d-41ca-aa02-615037d69de0

Caravan magazine's digital editor, Will Hawkins reviews Snugpak's SJ9 jacket.

Snugpak's Softie Jacket 9 (SJ9) is a high-quality coat which should prove popular with caravanners.

Why? Its designers have thought about the details of the jacket to make sure that wearers keep warmth in and cold out.

Head down

Starting at the top, the SJ9 has a built-in hood (complete with drawcords for extra closeness) with a high collar to keep your head and neck draught free and warm. If you don't need the hood up, lash it down with the snap-down strap.

Warm to -10C

Next, the SJ9 uses Snugpak 'Softie Premier' fill which will keep you warm to -10C, which is ideal for cold winter nights and cool spring evenings alike. The jacket's shell repels water too, which means you can wear it when it's raining without the worry of getting wet.

Extended Back

Pack it down

The sleeves have elasticated cuffs and thumbholes to stop any cold air creeping up your arms. The designers extended the back of the SJ9 so when you kneel down or bend over there's no accidental exposure of your midriff to the cold. The SJ9 comes with a 'stuff sack' so you can pack the jacket down to a small size and store it in your van or backpack more easily.

Extend your evenings outside

The Snugpak SJ9 is the perfect jacket for caravanners who use their vans all year round. It's so warm that it will extend your evenings outside before you need to retire to the caravan. I've had one for over a month now, and it's the warmest jacket I've ever had.
