Caravan Destination of the Month: White Cliffs of Dover

d30e339b-a181-4250-98de-058563858160

Caravanners! Head down to Kent to see one of Britain’s most iconic and dramatic natural wonders, The White Cliffs of Dover.

With miles of footpaths to explore, disabled access and great dog walks, this National Trust attraction is just as attractive in the middle of winter as it is in summer.

There's plenty for wildlife and history lovers too, and, with two tearooms on the route, there's plenty of opportunity for a much-needed spot of sustenance.

Our favourite thing is the Fan Bay Deep Shelter a renovated wartime tunnel complex, designed as the accommodation for the gun batteries above.

Armed only with a hard hat and head torch, you can venture deep into the cliff face on an exciting guided tour, that'll whisk you straight back to 1940. Admission costs £10 adults and £5 kids. (Reopens 27 March 2017)

Hawthorn Farm is one of three great sites in the Keat Farm Parks group. Each one offers an outstanding environment for touring holidays in The Garden of England., Kent. We love Hawthorn Farm for its proximity to the White Cliffs, but also because of its eco-friendly approach, 27 spacious pitches and superb facilities. Head there for a weekend, a longer break or as a pleasant stop-over before crossing to the Continent.
