The first thing you notice here is colour. Vibrant lime greens, purples, reds and pinks appear in a range of kitchen utensils, plus receptacles of all dimensions from rubbish bins to washing up bowls.

10 best caravan accessory dealersThey brighten up even the most mundane jobs! There are also colourful barbecues, a range of folding chairs for junior caravanners and the brightest pink waterproof Briers Garden Clogs, in a spongy lightweight fabric, at just £10 and also come in grey-green.

Ropers’ shop opened in 1990. Since then it has developed into a one-stop store for caravanning and the leisure lifestyle, with items such as those vibrantly-coloured kitchen utensils. They’re from KitchenCraft, made of silicone and heat-resistant to 260ºC, made for use on non-stick surfaces in particular, and come with a five-year guarantee.

We explore further and find a good range of Weber barbecues; staff tell us that their quality impresses customers. We need no convincing, already being the proud owners of a small Weber charcoal barbecue called Smokey Joe.

Away from the colourful items and among an array of caravan steps we pick out a Milenco Giant Double Step, wider than average and impressively sturdy, at £23.99.

From the necessary to the frivolous; battery-operated candles grab our attention. They’re white, they are made of a substance that closely mimics wax, and when you flick a switch on the base a ‘flame’ appears in the centre of the ‘candle’.

Awning and caravan ambience suddenly reaches a new level! A set of three, with a remote control(!) costs £15.99. They’re made by Premier Decorations which, Ropers tells us, supplies 75% of the Christmas lights on sale in the UK.
