Robinsons Caravans has accessory shops at both of its branches; we visited Chesterfield. This shop gets you in holiday mode with a freezer full of ice creams directly alongside the entrance. And if it’s not ice-cream weather there’s hot chocolate and coffee nearby.

10 best caravan accessory dealersWe discover a Magnum – not the ice cream but a large Isabella porch. It’s the latest Concept model, £999, and the neat Cosy Corner attached to it, for extra shelter, costs from £185.

At the time of writing there were special offers on the previous year’s Isabella Capri full awnings, including a 925cm size at £925, reduced from £1445, and a 950cm at £1049, reduced from £1644.

Robinsons’ awning ranges include Leisurewize. One of the displays is an acrylic Frontera Lux full awning with steel frame and exterior blinds, priced from £595 to £675, depending on size.

We explored the outdoor cooking equipment and found Kampa Fry Up large-surface electric griddles at £25.99 – ideal for families.

We also picked out a Halogen oven, from Blue Diamond, £39.99. You can use it in an awning, outside or in a caravan; halogen ovens are good for roasting and especially ideal for cooking bacon in an awning, as no smell is emitted.

We found Ourdoor Chef electric barbecues at £149.99. They’re designed to be left outside; the control panel is under a waterproof cover. A gas version is £169.99.

There’s a wide selection of chairs at Robinsons’ branches, including a Brunner relaxer chair at £64.99. Its virtue is that it folds to a flatter shape than many chairs of its type. The model is called Kerry Slim and it weighs a mere 5.4kg.

Among the Kampa range of chairs here we picked out one of an unusual shape. It’s called a Tub Chair; it has sides of the same height as the back, and folds into a cylindrical shape. The price is £24.99.
