Set at the foot of Ben Nevis and offering wonderful views of the mountains, Glen Nevis is a four-star rated campsite that is the perfect base for a walking or cycling holiday. It features 380 pitches with a choice of grass or hardstandings. You can even get full monte fully-serviced pitches and for added convenience there's a motorhome service point. They also offer holiday homes, lodges and cottages for hire. There's a restaurant and lounge bar nearby. Off site you can enjoy boat trips on Loch Linnhe, as well as sampling the delights of Fort William, which offers decent shops and bars.

At the foot of Ben Nevis in the valley between the mountains nestles Glen Nevis Caravan and Camping Park. Being surrounded by mountains, the view is spectacular. It is ideally placed for exploring the surrounding countryside and for dog walking there are innumerable paths from which to choose.

For the really fit there is the climb up Ben Nevis that starts just across the road from the campsite. The less strenuous West Highland Way can be found on the opposite side of the site and there are various other paths along the river. Thus this site offers a plethora of walking opportunities to suit all abilities.

In addition there are many interesting places to visit nearby; comprehensive information can be found at the reception. For motorhome owners who prefer to keep their unit on site and choose public transport, the site’s reception office has a timetable of the bus service that runs regularly to Fort William, which stops just outside the entrance.

Though it is a large campsite, shrubs cleverly separate it into various areas providing privacy and a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere.

There are several toilet blocks. These facilities are first-rate and despite the high usage always clean. There is a shop and restaurant on-site, as well as other restaurants and pubs nearby.

Facilities for dogs are excellent because the site is spacious and all around it are fields and footpaths – but, as ever, care needs to be taken to keep the dog on a lead because of the proximity of livestock.

An excellent site for dogs and owners alike but, towards the end of the season, about mid September, the amount of sunlight reaching the site is considerably reduced due to the surrounding mountains.
