Pods prove a popular choice with campers

FIRST time campers looking for a safety net, older campers looking for a little luxury, winter campers wanting warmth – these are just a few reasons that Martyn Merckel from Eskdale Club site claims lies behind the massive 65 per cent increase in bookings for his camping pods.He says: “Our new pod area has proved very popular and we are close to capacity until the end of August. Tent campers are trying them to add a different dimension to camping holiday before returning to their tent.”
The wooden huts provide a warm refuge complete with chairs, table and beds – but little else. Martyn again: “We like people to book direct with us so we can ensure they have the right expectations to what they are coming to.
These are not chalets and pods have little space for luxuries – some campers have had to leave excess kit in the car. But they are comfortable and a great base from which to explore our beautiful area. Most campers leave their cars on site for the week…”
Although a pod will take a family, campers with teenage children may find that they are too small to cope. Just give Martyn a call to discuss your requirements.
Camping pods are available to hire throughout the year except for a shutdown from 14 January until 1 March. Breaks across the Christmas and New Year period are especially popular.
Martyn is keen for everyone to enjoy their camping and charges a flat rate of £37 per pod per night regardless of season. For further details call 01946 723253 or visit www.thefriendlyclub.co.uk
