New Olympic campsite announced

High demand for camping during next summer's Olympics in London has led to another site being set up for the Games.

The Westlands Playing Fields site in Havering is the third added to the Camping and Caravanning Club's selection for the event.

It will be in operation between 24 July and 20 August 2012 - and will be just 15 minutes by train from the Olympic Park.

It will have 430 pitches as well as full facilities - including toilets, showers, changing, catering and entertainment.

The site was added as a result of the demand for spaces at the Club's event sites at Gravesend and Culverstone.

Membership services director Paul Jones said: "Camping certainly offers an affordable way to enjoy the Olympic atmosphere and at the same time grow tourism within this country."

Camping will start at £30 per night based on a minimum three-night stay and the site will be open to both members and non-members.
