Gold again for Pearl Lake Leisure Park

FAMILY and staff at a Herefordshire holiday park are celebrating their victory in a tourist board competition to find the region’s most outstanding park business for the second year running.

Pearl Lake Leisure Park near Leominster has once again scooped 'The Caravan Holiday Park of the Year' prize in the recent Heart of England Excellence in Tourism Awards. The presentation was made at a special ceremony by BBC news presenter Kay Alexander, who praised the high quality standards which Pearl Lake had achieved.

Set in 80 acres of peaceful countryside, the park provides luxury caravan holiday homes for sale, plus pitches for couples and families with tents, touring caravans and motorhomes. Its facilities include an exclusive 9-hole golf course, bowling green, restaurant and bar, woodland walks – plus a 15 acre fishing lake.

The park is owned by Glenn and Hannah Jones who, in the past seven years, have transformed the previously run-down caravan site into one of the country’s most highly rated holiday parks.

Pearl Lake’s prestigious tourist board award follows another accolade received by the park this year. In September, Professor David Bellamy presented the park with his Conservation Award for its achievements in helping to protect and enhance the natural world. The award was made at the top Gold level for the third year in succession.

Professor David Bellamy said that the park had created a “wildlife wonderland” and a natural haven where animals, birds and plants – including both common and less familiar species – could flourish.

Runners-up with the silver award are Poston Mill Park in the Golden Valley at Peterchurch, a sister Park to Pearl Lake Leisure Park. Owners Wayne and Sarah Jones are thrilled to have all of their hard work recognised in this way. Their park is meticulously maintained with riverside walks, extensive pitch and putt, large dog walking area, croquet, tennis and boules, all set in the beauty of the Golden Valley. The Millpond at Tarrington, also in Herefordshire, picked up the Bronze award.
