‘Special Forces’ challengeThe National Autistic Society is looking for women and men to take part in a weekend challenge fully supported by ex-Special Forces instructors to raise money for people with autism.
Participants will have the chance to escape from their everyday lives into the beautiful countryside around Penrith in Cumbria from 8-10 September. Anyone over 18 can take part as long as they are relatively fit and healthy. People can enter either individually or as a team of five.
They will get the opportunity to learn skills such as survival techniques, navigation, camouflage and concealment, night exercise, and escape and evasion.

Hi-tech autumn festival
Campers with a love of exploring the Lake District can check out the first-ever autumn festival featuring hi-tech treasure hunts. ‘Let's Go! - A Festival of GPS Navigation’, takes place at the YHA Centre in the Borrowdale Valley south of Keswick.
The weekend starts at 5pm on Friday 22 September, and goes on until Sunday 24 September, showcases the sport of Geocaching, a new craze that combines walking and global positioning satellite technology, with the thrill of a treasure hunt.
Weekend packages are available at YHA Borrowdale by contacting 0870 7705 707. The package costs £125 and includes two night’s full board and all activities, which participants can attend at their choice. Alternatively, visitors can stay somewhere else and buy a day ticket. These cost £29 per person and include lunch and are available by visiting the website at www.gpstraining.co.uk
