Family’s dream camping job

How many of us haven’t been tempted by the thought of running our own campsite? That was the dream that’s come true for the Lewis family, who are now managing the site they’ve been visiting as customers for the past five years.

They’ve moved from their home in Worcester to Morben Isaf Holiday Park in mid-west Wales. Dad Ben has given up his building surveyor job while mum Sarah was previously a housing association manager.

Says Sarah: “We love this area of Mid Wales because it’s so quiet and peaceful, yet easy to get to and has so many quality attractions and outdoor activities for families to enjoy.

“We like being inland from the coast because we get the best of both worlds. We have always wanted to run a park because we love the lifestyle, so this is a dream job for us.”

Morben Isaf has a field set aside for tent camping, with pitch prices from £7.50 (one person) and a Loo of the Year-winning toilet block. It also counts a fishing pool, gym, nature reserve and children’s play area among its facilities. Nearby attractions include the Centre for Alternative Technology and Dyfi Osprey Project
