Barns storm to success
Walkers who swap their tents for timber and stone are expected to create an even heavier demand this year for Cumbria's largest network of farm-based camping barns.
And to help visitors plan their stays, a new interactive website now provides online booking facilities - and suggested itineraries which link the barns via some of the Lake District's best-loved landscapes. Lakeland Camping Barns also has a new central booking number from which information about the network and its members is also available.
There are now 12 barns in membership on family farms throughout Cumbria, most of which are in the heart of the National Park. They provide the guarantee of a weatherproof stopover in clean and well cared-for accommodation for £6 per person a night.
The new one-stop booking service It will allow visitors to check availability and book one or more nights on the telephone, right up to the day of the intended stay. There is also a new look for the website providing information about the network and its members. The website also includes suggested routes for walkers and cyclists travelling between barns for two, three and four-day breaks. The routes are also produced in the form of printed OS-based maps at £3 each.
Check out Lakeland Camping Barns at www.lakelandcampingbarns.co.uk and the central booking number at 01946 758198.
