A spooktacular campsite holiday

Halloween sees some ghostly goings-on at various attractions across the country next month. From ancient castles to family theme parks, there’s some frighteningly good fun for all the family to enjoy, especially with some great campsites located nearby.

West Midlands

What’s on?

Warwick Castle is host to The Haunted Castle Halloween from 27 October to 4 November. The Castle will be open until 9pm where a host of creepy characters will be on the prowl. Younger children will have the chance to dress up and make spells, a fun Halloween trail will lead through the Castle grounds and you can enter the castle dungeons if you dare …

Where to stay?

Warwick Racecourse Caravan Club Site. Open to members and non-members this site is set within the grounds of the racecourse itself and is less than 10 minutes’ walk from Warwick town centre. Warwick Castle is easily reached from the site and public transport is within a mile.

What’s on?

Alton Towers Resort's Scarefest, 13-14 October and 19-31 October, promises to be terrifyingly brilliant. The rides will be open until 9pm so you can enjoy your favourite in the dark and the park will come alive with costumed ghosts and ghouls. With live action scare mazes, and fun Halloween treats for younger guests, there’s something for all the family.

Where to stay?

Alton, The Star Club Site is close to the Peak District National Park and just over a mile from Alton Towers Resort. This park is perfect for walking and touring the area with the pretty market town of Ashbourne nearby.

South West

What’s on?

Wookey Hole Halloween Spooktacular. The resident Witch of Wookey Hole will be greeting guests who are brave enough to enter the caves this Halloween. There will be eerie tours underground and creepy competitions, accompanied by Halloween circus shows and a witch's grotto.

Where to stay?

Bucklegrove Holiday Park is just a couple of miles from Wookey Hole, situated on the edge of the Mendip Hills. The Park has an indoor swimming pool and family friendly bar along with the usual facilities.

What’s on?

Crealy Halloweek, from 26 October - 4 November, will provide spooky autumn fun, with a free pumpkin for every child, exciting games, thrilling rides, fancy dress competitions and visits to the Crealy witch in her spooky cavern. Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park (LINK) has over 60 different attractions, both indoor and outdoor plus a host of farm animals to meet too! 

Where to stay?

Crealy Meadows is within walking distance of the adventure park and for guests staying there, park entry discounts are available. The campsite has full facilities, along with a shop and glamping-style tent accommodation too. 

What’s on?

Halloscream Week at Woodlands Theme Park runs from 27 October to 4 November. There will be pumpkin carving championships, weird workshops and a ghost train, along with the Wildest Halloween Party ever on October 31 with fun, fancy dress and face painting. Dracula's Castle and Werewolf Forest will scare big kids while little ones will be happy riding through dinosaurs in the Flying Spooks Ride. 

Where to stay?

Woodlands Grove Caravan & Camping Park is right next to the theme park, being part of the same company. All the rides and entertainment at the theme park are free with two nights’ stay in the caravan park, which has excellent facilities and groups of pitches separated by shrubs and hedging.
