1 CHESTER ZOO

One of the UK's largest zoos, Chester is the most-visited wildlife attraction in Britain with more than 1.3 million visitors in 2007. It has also been described as one of the best 15 zoos in the world

A large campsite located next to the A55 Expressway on the south side of the city of Chester. Well positioned for general touring of the area. Seventy touring pitches on grass and hardstanding with electric hook-up. Modern toilets with free showers, a laundry and washing up area. A good base for visiting the zoo, the city and the surrounding area and it is open all year.


2 NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, LONDON

The museum is home to around 70 million items within five main collections: botany, entomology, mineralogy, palaeontology and zoology.  It is particularly famous for its exhibition of dinosaur skeletons and entry is free

A nine-acre campsite with 220 pitches for motorhomes, caravans and tents. 64 hardstandings. 16 amp hook-ups. Partly sloping, so some pitches require levelling blocks. The two large heated toilet blocks and laundry rooms are all of a high standard – modern, bright and very clean. Dishwashing facilities, excellent mother and baby facilities, plus separate tent field at the rear of the site with its own toilet block. Play area for children. Large information room.

3 ALTON TOWERS


With 2.7 million visitors, Alton Towers is the most visited theme park in the United Kingdom and one of the most visited in Europe. The major attractions include Nemesis, Oblivion, Air, Rita and Th13teen.

With the main gates of Alton Towers just one mile away, families will find this to be an excellent base from which to travel to the theme park. The on-site facilities include award- toilets with disabled access, free hot showers, dishwashing sink and coin-operated washing machines and driers. Reception sells the daily basics including milk, tea, coffee, sugar and toiletries, while a vending machine sells pop, chocolate and crisps. Kids will also appreciate the adventure play area.

Home to the UK's only giant pandas and more than 1000 other animals, Edinburgh Zoo offers an great day out for the whole family.

The Eden Project  near St Austell in Cornwall describes itself as being "the largest indoor rainforest in the world” featuring two huge domes – one emulates a tropical environment, and the second a Mediterranean environment
