This high-spec new caravan has L-shaped lounge seating and a separate bedroom

The Alaria range, the eight-feet-wide, high spec, Alde-heated, twin-axle brand made by Lunar, goes into 2019 with three layouts, a twin-bed model and two with double beds – one transversely aligned and this one, with its bed at the rear.

The distinguishing feature of Alarias is that they have L-shaped lounges; buyers can choose from two fabrics.

The TR has a separate bedroom divided by two sliding doors from the centrally-positioned shower compartment, on one side, and the washbasin area on the other. A hinged door segments this area from the kitchen and lounge.

The bed 1.83m is long and 1.34m wide.

This year's Alarias have an automatic levelling system made by American company Lippert. It is designed to level the caravan on a gradient of up to two per cent in a little over two minutes. The Lippert system has four jacking points, at each of the corner steadies.

The system can be used to raise the nearside wheels off the ground. You can fir both AL-KO Secure wheel locks; while it's relatively easy to align one receptor between the wheel spokes to fit one of the locks, to install the second one, it's necessary to raise the axles to rotate the wheel so that the receptor aligns with the lock.

Alarias now have an amperage management system which switches off the Alde heating automatically when an appliance such as a hairdryer or microwave is in use to prevent you from tripping your pitch electricity supply. Among hi-tech electronic gadgetry are programmable timing for the heating, a DAB radio and a tracker system incorporated into the amperage management system.

The Alaria models have a 180-litre fridge-freezer.
