An editorial review of Waren Caravan & Camping Park

Introduction to Waren Caravan & Camping Park

I’m a great fan of sandy beaches and I love a dramatic, rugged coastline, too, so a campsite with easy access to both of those things is sure to be a winner with me!

Waren Caravan & Camping Park is located next to woodland on the headland above Budle Bay, just a few miles from iconic Bamburgh Castle, standing proud above the vast beach below.

What the campsite has to offer

I selected Waren for its location and, as such, it has far more facilities on site than I need; however, this is a great plus point for families, or anyone who wants an outdoor pool, shop, games room, and bar and restaurant easily at their disposal.

For those who want a peaceful break, the touring area is located away from the main leisure facilities. Motorhomes can choose from grass or hardstanding pitches with electric hook-up in both the adults-only or family areas. There are also fully serviced pitches with the addition of fresh water and grey waste. Touring facilities include toilets and showers, a dishwashing area, a launderette and motorhome waste point.

I really liked the nature trail where you can meet the site’s Highland cattle, and the barbecue hut that can be privately hired. You get good views over the coast while munching on a burger or hot dog from the picnic bench, and thanks to the hut, nothing is spoiled even if it decides to rain!

A handy gate in one of the fields gives access to the country road that leads down to Budle Bay. From here you can walk alongside the golf course on the cliffs above the sea, and onto the coast path, all the way into Bamburgh, a walk of about four miles.

Taking the direct route from the campsite, or using public transport (half-a-mile away) is maybe quicker and easier to reach the castle, but it is in no way as scenic!
