What is the Robens Klondike PRS like?

The Robens brand seems to have cornered the market in creating stunningly good-looking tents that provide technical tent-level spec.

And the Klondike PRS is another to add to the list. If you want to turn heads on the campsite, then look no further than this striking tipi-style tent.

A few years ago we coined the phrase ‘manping’ to cover camping equipment like this. The idea being that it was a sort of male version of glamping. With hindsight, I’m relieved to say the word never caught on, but the concept still has lots of merit.

This is the sort of camping gear that looks good, is a little bit different, but still does the job superbly well.

It’s really easy to pitch and ideal for a quick weekend break or a longer trip for a couple.

The new PRS is a polyester version of the cotton Klondike bell tent and it provides excellent sleeping accommodation for up to six people, although it would be more comfortable for a family of four.

The groundsheet zips open to the centre alloy pole, allowing it to be rolled away at the door to create an area for an optional stove and there’s a roof opening for a chimney flue.

Ventilation is controlled with the ingenious Internal Apex Vent Control, which is easily opened and closed from inside the tent using a pull-cord system. Low-level mesh vents also help control ventilation.

As a safety feature, the guylines have reflective flecks through them, which will sparkle when picked out by a torch at night. Overall, this is a great little weekend tent that’s definitely going to get you lots of attention on the campsite.
