What is the Coleman Vail 6L like?

Spacious, comfortable and convenient, the Vail 6L from Coleman is a great tent for beginners and camping veterans alike. With good-sized bedrooms and an airy living area, it’s easy to pitch and, for a large tent, it packs down relatively small.

The fully open front porch provides an area that is well-protected from the elements and can be used as a sheltered cooking space, a storage area where you can leave muddy footwear or as somewhere to sit outside, but still be shielded from the sun, wind or rain. Or in this country, all three at the same time!

The large front door has a fold-flat section of groundsheet at the entrance, to give barrier-free access to the main living area. The living room is a bright, fresh space that is well-ventilated and has large PVC windows on both sides and at the front. Windows have toggled covers that can be closed for privacy and there’s a side door for direct access.

The polyester flysheet has a hydrostatic head of 4,000mm as well as fully taped seams. The outer tent is also fire retardant and treated with Coleman’s UVGuard, providing SPF 50 protection from the sun’s rays.

For extra peace of mind, the stoppers on the tent doors ensure that zips are always within easy reach in the event of an emergency, even for children.

A cable entry point in the main tent lets you connect your electrical gadgets to the electric hook-up point and there are rings in the living and sleeping areas to hang camping lanterns from.

The XXL bedrooms are spacious and have decent headroom, and the rear vent provides good ventilation to help keep the sleeping areas cool on hot nights and help prevent the creation of condensation.
